PCA Backs Culinary Quartet
When world-renowned chefs and culinary identities converge on Adelaide’s Tasting Australia Festival, in October – their palates will be singing the praises of Kingaroy peanuts.
Team South Burnett recently received a considerable funding boost from the Peanut Company of Australia Manging Director Mr Bob Hansen (*pictured above with Team Captain Jason Ford), who has once again become a major partner to the quartet of local chefs.
PCA were a major sponsor of Team South Burnett, when they competed at the LifeStyle FOOD Channel Australian Regional Culinary Competition in 2003.
For the 2007 event, Team South Burnett will be using the companies World-first “Lyte & Crunchy” peanuts in their regionally-inspired competition menu. The peanut kernels have been pressed to release their oil, and were developed as a joint project under Federal Government funding by PCA and the Peanut Van.
The competition requires 30 Australian regional teams, to prepare a three-course meal for four people, using regional based products and matching wines.
It’s anticipated that using the new peanuts will help Team South Burnett standout from the pack.

Team captain Jason Ford said, "If the peanuts are used in an innovative way, they may just be the ingredient needed to entice the judge’s taste buds".
The competition will be judged by acclaimed chefs and food identities from all over the country, including David Pugh from the iconic Restaurant Two in Brisbane.
Meanwhile, Team South Burnett will continue their funding drive over the coming months to raise the $15,000 required to attend the event. The money will go towards covering a variety of expenses such as preparation, transport, accommodation and freighting product and equipment to South Australia
